Your skin craves nutrients from the inside, humidity, moderate temperatures, and sunlight. It requires diligent care to reward you with a beautiful, healthy glow. The skin’s glow is not a question only of aesthetics. The skin is an important organ with protective, regulatory, and sensing capacities. If something goes wrong in our surroundings, the skin is among the first to send a signal. Therefore, it’s important to keep an eye on it and apply effective natural or man-made dry skin remedies at the first sign of unnatural dryness.

Many topical skin care remedies will work to improve your skin in some way. But it is best if you do the full-body dry skin treatment and take care of your skin health internally, as well as externally. Here are five remedies you can apply without burdening your time or budget,

1. Eliminate or reduce stressors

Although we love seeing smooth, well-nourished epidermis, there are never enough effective dry skin remedies to fight the sometimes merciless treatment our skin has to endure. Dry skin is a common consequence of overextending your body in some way. Life conundrums, heat or cold, and harsh and ineffective skin care products are all skin stressors – and when they pile in, that’s it – your skin is in urgent need of restoring its health.

For example, have you noticed how your skin loses its elasticity after a few sleepless nights, an important exam, or an extended shift at work? Dead cells take over and your natural rosy tautness starts looking less appealing.

Removing stress is easier said than done. But it’s good to be aware that a longer period with stressful life events can impact the skin adversely. When this happens, you need to pay more attention to your care by dropping into bed earlier, hydrating the skin from the inside and topically, as well as choosing healthier food options and protect dry skin treatments that will assist your skin in fighting the stress.

Your skin will be grateful as you age, especially if it’s extremely dry by nature. Unsure what your skin type is? Learn more about skin types to effectively care for your skin.

2. Experiment with dry skin remedies at home

Let’s admit it – if you really mess up your skin, you might need to ask for expert help from your local beauty salon. Only intensive deep mask moisturisers and special serums will do the trick.

But if investing in dry skin remedies at home becomes your standard, you will save on the big bucks for specialist treatments and, at the same time, praise yourself for treating your skin with organic products

Some of the dry skin remedies with most wondrous results are off-the-shelf, for example, coconut oil, milk and honey, and aloe vera:

Coconut oil

Coconut oil contains fatty acids with emollient properties that protect the skin’s outer layer. They fill in the uneven surface, keeping it smooth and not allowing the moisture to come out. Due to its natural saturated oil components, coconut oil is an irreplaceable ingredient in many sun protection sprays and tan intensifiers.

Milk & honey

Two other pantry foods that are even better as dry skin remedies are milk and honey, including additional bee products.

Honey as a skin remedy

You should drink the milk to gain the benefits from the phospholipids contained inside, although you can take a milk bath. Honey, on the other hand, should be applied directly on the skin to provide its anti-inflammatory benefits. Alternatively, you can use a face cream based on ingredients contained in wax and enzymes produced by bees during the honey making.

Aloe vera

In case you keep one of this cute plant purifiers at home, you can cut off a small piece, apply it to the damaged area and use its healing properties to revitalize dry skin that’s become red and itchy. Of course, unless you want to completely ruin your beautiful plant, you could always go for an aloe vera gel or toner instead of leaves. It will keep both your place and your skin pristine.

3. Change your beauty routine

Only after our favourite product is sold out, not manufactured anymore, or when we experiment with something new that we tend to notice the former product effectiveness. It is a classic case of “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” Therefore, when you find a skincare product that works for you, stick to it, and you may prevent if not reverse the detrimental effects of stress.

However, after a while, the skin can change. It may require something new. In that case, ask your dermatologist for initial advice. But also check your local store and follow the good old word-of-mouth from friends to discover a new treasure that can serve as your effective dry skin treatment for years to come.

Argan Oil For Dry Skin

There are many ingredients on the dry skin remedies market. The Morrocan gem argan tree oil or the precious water molecule holder – hyaluronic acid are turning evergreen.  They have proven their anti-age and recuperative qualities and have secured their place among the extremely dry skin remedies.

4. Bath Time Dry Skin Remedies

Apart from stocking your cabinet with an assortment of beauty products, pay attention to how you spend your bath time:

  • Limit the time you spend in the shower.
  • Reduce the thermostat to lower temperature while you’re there.
  • Don’t leave the bathroom door open.
  • Apply just enough shower gel to clean without excessive foaming.
  • Use a gentle face cleanser.
  • Tap the body with the towel rather than rubbing it vigorously.
  • Put your body lotion immediately to prevent moisture loss.

Believe it or not – you can overdo hygiene. Too much foam does not equal extra cleanliness but it can reduce the effect of various dry skin remedies.

So, treat your skin with love during bath time to see instant rewards.

5. Choose skin-friendly cleaning products, softeners, and perfumes

Harsh chemicals from skincare products are not the only adversary to beautiful skin. You can jeopardize your skin health with poorly chosen detergents, softeners, and other beauty essentials, such as perfumes.

Dryer

Effective cleaning products and washing powders may clean thoroughly but they can be too much for a sensitive, blotchy, dry skin, worsening the dryness with irritation and allergies. To combat dry skin:

  • Go for hypoallergenic cleaning products.
  • Buy perfumes based on natural essential oils
  • Wear natural materials such as cotton, silk, and wool close to the skin.

Most of the above skin treatments can be applied as dry skin remedies for face, as well as the body, and during all four seasons. They are especially effective for dry skin in winter, when it requires extra dedication. Don’t forget also in summer, when you want to retain the perfectly tanned skin

A common component of all remedies for dry, parched skin is the gentle, mild approach. Although your dry skin treatment list may be long, stick to the “less is more” rule. You’ll help your skin regenerate faster, without drenching it with products or torturing it with a boot camp cleaning practice.
