For most of us, good skin doesn’t always come naturally. In fact, it takes a lot of hard work to get good skin and involve everything from a good skincare regime to the correct diet. With so many skin concerns out there, it can be difficult to narrow down to a reputable brand, products or even beautician! Origins skincare is an affordable skincare solution that’s ideal for both at-home use and salons!

A good skincare routine starts with YOU! Let’s delve into more info on how you can achieve good skin, what brands you can trust and some extra tips on keeping your skin glowing without too much-added work just by understanding your skin! You’ll love checking out your skin any chance you get!

Understanding Skin Concerns

The first thing you need to know before your can start to fix your skin is to work out your skin concern. Each skin type is different, some may suffer from excess oils, while others may have adverse problems. It’s important to work out exactly what’s going on so you can understand how to resolve the issue. Some of the most common concerns are as follows:

Oily skin: This is where your skin processes excess sebum or oils. Often the face will appear shiny, predominately on the nose and forehead. Oily skin can also be more prone to acne too because the oil can cause blockages.

Dry skin: Your skin if it’s dry will often feel tight. You may also experience skin shredding too, which can sometimes result in sores. A person with dry skin may experience it worse in winter.

Combination skin: The perfect mix of both oily and dry. Often the ‘T-Zone‘ will be more oily while the rest of the face is likely to be dry. This will then require mixed methods of treatment.

Normal skin: You generally don’t have any noticeable issues. You may experience days of dryness or oil, but overall, it’s fairly healthy. You can still experience things such as pimples, so a good routine and diet are recommended.

Sensitive skin: You will notice that your skin is more likely to react to certain ingredients in your products. This can sometimes mean itching and redness! This means you need to be careful with your routine and be extra picky about products!

Setting a Skincare Routine

Once you’ve determined your skin issue, you can then learn how to treat it. This may involve some trial and error at first and finding a sustainable routine. We’d all love to have flawless skin and frequently exfoliate, the truth is though, most of us just don’t have the time. So setting down realistic expectations is the best way to start to ensure you stick to a routine. E.g. will you have time both morning and night? if so, how much time can you dedicate to your skin?

Treating dry skin means you’ll need to upkeep the amount of moisturiser you put on. It also means you’ll need to avoid drying out your skin. We hate to say it, but you may just need to slow down on the hot showers just a tad!

One of the biggest things you can do for your skin is to eat healthily! Drinking plenty of water and avoiding those fatty foods will help make a visual difference. You’ll be less likely to get blackheads and pimples, while also retaining skin moisture and improved elasticity.

Using a Good Skincare Brand

In addition to your newfound diet of healthy eating, you will need to still use skincare products. There are so many brands on the market with each claiming to be the best. It’s about finding what’s BEST for you! You’ll need to be really careful if you’ve got sensitive skin, you may need to trial and error a few products. Before jumping into anyone brand though, enquire to see if you can obtain samples. While it won’t be enough to see a real difference, it will give you a taste of what you can expect.

Some of our favourite brands include Origins Skincare and Byotea. For men, Vitaman wins our votes! Each brand offers unique ingredients that target different areas of skin and concerns. Vitaman is good because the needs of men’s skin are slightly different. Generally speaking, it’s more tough and prone to more sebum than a lady.

Origins skincare has been our favourite of late and one of the newest brands at AMR. For those with dry skin, we’d recommend trying the overnight moisturising cream. It’s perfect for those with a busy schedule and allows it to absorb overnight! For sensitive skin, try the Dr Andrew Weil range. It’s specifically made using ingredients that aren’t harsh on normally sensitive skin. For oily skin, go for a pore-clearing moisturiser. Our favourite is the one containing charcoal!

Special Salon Treatments

We are also strong advocates of going every once in a while to a salon to get a facial. They use specialised methods to help open up your pores (using steam) to promote healthier skin. There are also some advanced products on the market now that cover your whole face! Casamara is big in the USA and is well known for their full facial mask!

Make some time for yourself and get some pampering done! Respect the skin your in and show it some TLC! Comment below if you have a good routine or have a go-to product like Origins skincare.
