After a salon visit it’s no secret that the toner starts to fade. For brunettes, the warm chocolate may start to fade to a nice cool brown but blondes don’t have it that easy. If the colour was a really light blonde, you can start to expect those yellow tones to peep through. It’s even worse if you’re transitioning to blonde, hello orange! The good news is that it can be easy to maintain in the comfort of your own home with blonde hair masks.
Blonde masks differ from that of other treatments, as they are specially formulated for those with bleached hair. Since the bleaching process can be so damaging, generally all the ingredients are highly nourishing. Furthermore, they contain special colour pigments helped to assist with colour preservation.
The colour mask you’ll select is dependent on the colour of your hair. If you’re trying to remove yellow undertones from the hair, for best results use a purple shampoo. Purple helps to counteract the yellow, making the colour ashier. For those wanting to say goodbye to more orange hues, a blue mask will work best. It will give off a cool icy tone instead of that golden glow.
If you’re wanting to still keep that beach babe colour without turning into an ice queen, use a mask infrequently. You can use the blonde hair mask every few washes while using a hydrating mask in between. If you’re a salon, you may even consider using a blonde mask for toning at the basin.
