Perm Neutraliser

It's no secret, perms are back in fashion. More and more people are wanting to jump on board this trend, so it's important to have all the tools you need to get the job done.

You'll need rods, perm solutions, detoxing shampoos, sectioning clips and most importantly, a perm neutraliser. Neutralisers play an important role in the finalisation of the perm.

How The Perm Neutraliser Works

The perm neutraliser is one of the final steps in the perming process. It's used after the washing out of the perm solutions. The main purpose is to restore the hairs natural balance after working with the chemicals. It's the primary purpose is to restore the polymers, that are altered from the perm solution.

Unlike the perming solution, there is just one type of neutraliser. It doesn't matter your hair type, it's safe to use on all hair types. if the neutraliser isn't used, the hair cuticle will remain open. It will then be more prone to become dry, brittle and coarse. The cuticle is the protective layer of the hair, so it's important to ensure it's closed. This makes for a better quality perm.

Perm solutions, on the other hand, some in a number of different types. One form of the solution is for normal to fine hair, while the other is for treated and toned hair types.

Clients may often come to you concerned that a perm can be damaging to the hair and will compromise the hairs integrity. Ensure the customer that the service is very similar to that of a normal colour service.

Your Questions Answered

A perm neutraliser is a solution applied during the hair perming process. It helps to stop the chemical reaction once the hair has undergone treatment for curls or waves. This action sets the shape and stabilises the structure of the curls or waves. Achieve long-lasting and soft curls and waves by using Schwarzkopf Natural Styling Neutraliser.

Typically, a perm's duration ranges from 2 to 6 months, depending on factors like hair type, aftercare, and the specific technique used. As hair grows, the perm gradually weakens, leading to less defined curls and waves over time.
