Be Bold With Mascara
Mascara is used to help lengthen eyelashes and make them appear bolder. Many people use it to draw more attention to their eyes and bring out their colour. It's commonly used as a makeup staple, with many women choosing this and foundation as their most-used makeup essential. The ingredients differ by brand, with some being oil-based, while others use waxes. So Which should you use?
Ingredients Found In Mascara
Ingredients found in mascara change depending on the brand. They're also dependent on the wear type of the mascara. Washable and waterproof mascara vary slightly, one being higher in water content. Washable mascara contains more water, so it's easier to remove. This is best for daily use as it's not as heavy, and can be effectively removed using water or a wipe. It's not going to survive a storm or tears, so think about where you'll be headed that day.
Waterproof mascara is a little more stubborn to remove. Specialised makeup remover is required to effectively get it off without damaging the natural lashes. carbon black or iron oxide pigment is used to help darken the lashes. Other common ingredients include polymers (used to coat lashes), oils (mineral, lanolin, castor oil) and waxes (candelilla wax petrolatum, carnauba and paraffin) as well as preservatives. Remember, always test patch the products first to ensure they're right for you.
The Hunt For The Best Mascara Brush
There are a few different types of brushes out there, each of them serving a different purpose. Some people like length, while others go for volume. Firstly, you need to consider what it is you're looking for. The longer the bristles, the longer your lashes. If you were going for volume, consider waterproof products as they are a little more durable. Secondly, the thing about the wand bristles is best for you. Most are standard plastic bristles which are length and volume but can sometimes cause clumping. Other brushes are made of rubber bristles. They make cleaning easier but arguably not as great on overall results.
