Our lips are a prominent facial feature which attracts a lot of attention. Makeup lipstick helps to draw additional looks to your lips with highly pigmented hues. Traditionally, lipstick was used by women as a way to show dominance and power. Today, a bold red lip still shows just that. In addition to looking great, lipstick also places a protective barrier on the lips. This means elements like the wind will do less damage. They aren't made specifically for protection but can help do the job. Some ingredients can be a little drying, so a proper care routine is recommended.
Healthier Lips, Vibrant Smile
There are a few small steps you can be making sure your lips have the best care. By ensuring they are well conditioned, you can be sure that your lipstick will always look great. Firstly, ensure your lips are not dry. Some people recommend exfoliating your lips gently to remove the excess skin. Be careful not to push too hard or you run the risk of splitting them. Once exfoliated, you can then apply lip balms up to 4 times a day for the best hydration. If your lips are dry and you continue to wear lipstick, they may take to some spots more than others. This will result in a patchy look, especially with matte lipsticks.
Picking Lipstick Makeup
If picking the perfect colour is hard enough, think about the texture too. Different textures give off different results. Matte lipsticks tend to be longer-lasting do not transfer. These types can be very drying and less forgiving if you make a mistake. Creamier blends are great for an easy spread and one of the most common types used. They're less drying but do require the odd touch up here and there.
