Collection: Scissors and Thinners
Professional Hair Scissors
Scissors are among the top three hairdressing tools you will use daily in your job. If you also provide barber’s services, the assortment of cutting and grooming tools in your salon needs to be even more versatile. Since a great haircut requires using at least two or three different types of hair scissors, you will have to fill your cabinets with a variety of tools. These include scissors, blades, and shears that will meet all your customer needs.
Types of Hair Scissors You Need to Have in Your Salon
You may have seen scissor packs made of several types of scissors, combs, and shears which you can carry neatly wrapped around your waist. These scissor kits help you grab the tool you need while working with one client without doing needless footwork. Kits are a timesaver that let you do your job on the go. However, if you work professionally with many clients and have one or two staff members that need the best tools you can provide, your salon will need separate supplies of various hair scissors:
- Short-bladed cutting scissors
- Long-bladed barbering scissors
- Wide-tooth thinning scissors
- Texturising scissors
- Swivel scissors
- Barber blades
- Barber shears
Bargain shears may save you on the price but are a poor long-term investment. At AMR, we make sure to provide the best quality Japanese stainless steel scissors that will serve you for years to come.
How to Choose Hair Scissors
If you are an experienced hairdresser, you won't need any guidance in choosing good scissors. For novices, scissors with various blade lengths and shapes could pose quite a challenge. Hairdressing scissors come in the cut range from 4.5” to 8” but commonly used scissors for precise haircutting jobs are in the 4.5″ to 5.5″ range. Longer blades work well for thinning or basic cuts for larger sections of hair. Measure the length of your palm from the wrist to the middle finger to find the right length. Additionally, think of the material if you have any allergies. Consider how much sharpening your favourite scissors will need and what is the most common cutting techniques you will be using in your salon. All these factors play a role in making your choice.
