Tape Hair Extensions

Tape hair extensions have been popular for a long time and for good reason. They are long-lasting and they are easy to apply in the hands of a professional.

Tape hair extensions are small wefts of hair that come on two thin strips of tape that will be sandwiched between your own hair when applied. This method is safe on your natural hair and will cause practically zero damage if correctly maintained.

Once the tape is worn out and the extensions are ready to be removed, new tape can be easily applied, which means getting more months from the extensions if well cared for.

Tape hair extensions aren't for everyone though. For those looking for long hair for a single night may be better suited for clip-in hair extensions

Applying Tape Hair Extensions

Each style of tape extensions has a different application process. The invisi-tape extensions we offer are applied by separating the two pieces of tape and then placing them between your natural hair to create a bond between the two tapes.

No heat is needed in the application and the application process will generally take around an hour or more to install depending on the desired thickness or size of your head.

Please Note - Each packet comes with 20 weft pieces which equates to 10 hair extension 'sandwiches'. Depending on your hair type, this could either cover your full head or only be half a head. Contact us for advice specific to your situation.

Removing Tape Hair Extensions

Tape extensions will start to loosen and even remove on their own after 6 weeks or so. If you've taken great care of them, you'll be able to go back to the salon to have them removed and reapplied.

When they are being re-taped you will have the option of placing them higher. With the remy human hair extensions we offer, they can be used multiple times before needing to replace the hair itself.

For the best results, it's important that you care for the extensions with professional products. It ensures that the hair is getting all the nutrients it needs to be long-lasting. Using shine sprays and oils on the ends of the hair can prevent drying. Additionally, it will make your hair appear silky smooth, giving a natural finish.

    Your Questions Answered

It's extremely important you know not to excessively wash your hair. So please don’t wash your hair every day. Doing so will dry your extensions out and make them brittle and prone to damage such as snapping and split ends. We recommend that once a week you apply a deep conditioning mask on your hair to add some moisture. Remember to only apply it to the ends of your hair and keep away from the tape.

It's important to keep slippery textures such as oils from the tape. Excess oil build up can cause the tapes to slip down the hair which will result in quicker visits to the salons or premature damage to the extensions. Be sure to apply your serums on the bottoms of your hair and only very lightly on the top of your scalp if you want to tend to the top of your head.

If you are purchasing permanent hair extensions such as invisi-tape, it is always best to have a professional install them unless you are a qualified specialist. Incorrect application can be detrimental to your natural hair and set of extensions.

You can wet your hair but not for the first 48 hours after your tape hair extensions are applied. This time is crucial for your tape extensions because they're still setting after you leave the salon. Make sure you plan your visit so that for the next two days your hair is free from any added moisture such as sweat and water. Don't get involved with any activity that'll have you sweating and don't get your hair wet in the shower because if you do either of those things during the 48 hour setting process, the tape will begin to loosen and won't set correctly. After that first couple of days you can wet your hair but never brush your hair when freshly wet. Allow your hair to air dry before running a wide tooth comb through it. Your hair is most fragile when wet. Also, please never sleep with wet hair!
