Using Colouring Tools at Your Salon

If a client wants streaks, you may need tools such as streaking caps or foils to get the job done. Streaking caps will require the hooks to help pull through the strands of hair that will be coloured. If you do require foils, consider a foil dispenser or precut foils.

For a balayage, you may only require a paddle and brush. Secondly, you'll then start to prepare the colour by mixing contents into a mixing bowl. You may require your toner, bleach and peroxide to all be mixed within the bowl using a tint brush. Some people take preference over a whisk purely for speed and consistency.

You can use a measuring cup or hairdressing scales to get the exact measurements. When the mixture is ready for application, you'll section off parts of the hair using sectioning clips and combs. This makes it easier to keep track of the areas needing to be done. Additionally, it ensures not patches of the hair are forgotten.
