Show customers at your salon the hair colours you have available. It helps give you both a confirmed visual of what you're hoping to achieve during a colouring session. Colour charts can also help give you an indication of what level peroxide is needed to help lift the colour if needed.

Often located within hair colour charts you'll also find valuable information on mixing ratios to help accurately achieve a desired colour. Some will also give a recommendation for suggested hair bleach.

Some brands require you to use their own bleaches and peroxides to activate the colour, so be mindful when purchasing hair colours. The charts all contain developing times and information on the range.

What Does a Hair Colour Chart Contain?

Hairdressing colour charts vary between brands. The number of swatches contained inside is dependant on the company and sometimes the series in a range.

Comprehensive charts can sometimes exceed more than 100 colour swatches such as the Limitless Hair Colour Chart with more than 100 shades.     Have you ever wondered about the numbers on hair dyes? Well, the numbers are part of a universal hair colour system. The first number is the base colour, which means 1.0 is dark black and 9.0 is a light blonde. The second and third numbers show reflect. The higher numbers mean warmer reflects e.g. 1.0 is dark black with no reflect and 9.8 is blonde with extremely warm reflects.
