Collection: Men's Skin Care
Men's Skin Care
The needs of men's skincare differ to that of a female. From the genetic makeup to the latest trends, men require different products. Males produce more sebum, an oil which is commonly found on the skin. With the increased production, their skin tends to be oilier and more susceptible to acne, pimples and breakouts.
In addition, men also produce more testosterone. The increased levels of testosterone actually create an additional thickness to the skin. A males skin is 25% thicker than a female. Therefore, the products need to be made differently to get optimum results.
Ingredients In Men's Skincare
When selecting skin care, it's important to consider a number of factors. Most importantly, you need to evaluate your skin type and the ingredients in the products. For men specifically, you should be using products that contain the following:
- Antioxidants: Helps to reduce acne and even skin tone.
- Retinol: Helps to smooth skin
- Peptides: Promotes skin tightening and smoothes wrinkles.
- Glycolic acid: Removes dead skin cells, provides exfoliation and lightens discolourations.
- Aloe vera: Offers anti-aging properties while offering added moisture.
Other ingredients you should consider in men's skincare are acai, shea butter, jojoba and Kakadu-plum. They also help to prevent UV damage, regenerate moisture and nourish the skin cells. These products will help your skin feeling great but it's important to also have a good skincare routine.
Men's Skin care Routine For Supple Skin
Sometimes just applying some skincare isn't enough. Having a good skin care routine will help keep impurities from the skin and will give a softer feel. Exfoliation for men is similar to that of a woman. You'll need to remove the dead skin cells by gently scrubbing your face.
You can use a cleanser to help assist with exfoliation. Depending on the cleanser you use, it'll only take you a few minutes. Some cleansers such as Vitaman Face & Body Cleanser can even be mixed with your shave creme/gel or your face scrub. It's recommended to exfoliate the minimum once a week to a maximum of three. You'll just need to test a routine to see what works best for you.
