How do Makeup Remover Cloths Work?

Makeup Remover Cloth

The only thing I hate about putting on makeup is having to take it off, but it has to be done. What I find really annoying is the number of make-up remover pads I have to use and the waste that comes out of it daily! This is why the makeup remover cloth appealed to me. It does its job without adding too much to our trash pile. On top of this, it is super soft and gentle on your face and skin without the added chemicals.

What exactly is the makeup remover cloth?

The make-up eraser is a fleecy and fluffy cloth made of ultra-soft polyester. The fibres are about half a centimetre long and only needs to be wet in warm water to effectively remove makeup. All you have to do is rub it on your face in small circular motions and use the other side to dry and exfoliate. It is also great for sensitive skin as it does not contain any added chemicals and additives found in other cleansers.

What does it remove?

It removes all types of makeup including powder, foundation concealers, lipstick, smear proof and waterproof makeup can be removed with just a few gentle wipes. It leaves skin feeling fresh without leaving any residue behind.

How does the makeup remover cloth work?

The makeup remover cloth works better than a regular washcloth as it is made of many threads on a smaller surface area.

This is useful because it assists with friction. The fibres are able to grip onto the makeup and lift it from the skin. The cloth is able to grab more makeup with less force and therefore causing less irritation.

As the fibres are smaller, they are able to get under finer particles of makeup and achieve more thorough cleansing.

The cloth also has great absorption so that when you do wipe away at your makeup, it doesn’t just get smeared around. Instead, it attaches itself to the cloth due to the fibres that bind the dirt and holds it better than regular cloth.

Warm water also aids in the cleansing process.

Advantages of Makeup Remover Cloth

Make-up remover cloths are great for:

Minimising waste – Makeup remover cloths may cost a bit more than your average makeup remover pads, but they do cost less over time as you are reusing your cloth instead of spending money on makeup removers, wipes and cotton pads etc.

Avoiding make-up removers – if you feel like you have ultra-sensitive skin that is affected and irritated by the chemicals in make-up removers, then make-up eraser cloths are great for you as they are less harsh.

Exfoliating your skin – Use the cloth gently as an exfoliator. It also eliminates the process of having to rinse your face.

Disadvantages of Make-up Remover Cloths

The downside: they remove most of your make-up, but there is still that stubborn waterproof eye make-up that it may not completely rid of. If your make-up is stubborn, then it might require you to rub a bit harder and this could tug on your skin. Overuse of the cloth could cause irritation, so you need to ensure you know how much your skin can handle.

The other downside is ensuring that you keep your make-up eraser clean as you could end up with a build-up of bacteria if you don’t wash it at least once a week. It is recommended you wring them out and dry them after each use.

Our recommendation:

Use the make-up eraser in conjunction with your other make-up eraser products. I would suggest you use this cloth to initially cleanse your face and remove what you can before removing stubborner residue with your cotton pads and make-up eraser. This way, you are still reducing the use of products and waste production.
