Lighteners and Bleach

The lighteners do the lifting. The Premium Lightener 9+ is the workhorse bleach powder, made to lift up to nine levels for a strong, even result, and it comes in a 450g tub for salon use. The Precision Lightener is the smaller 350g option for controlled, detailed work like fine foils or a targeted touch-up. Developers

The developer activates the lightener or toner, and the percentage determines how much it lifts. The 2% is the gentle one, made for toning and pastel shades where you want colour to deposit without lift. The 6% is the everyday choice for standard lifting and toning, the 9% pushes for a bigger lift, and the 12% is the strongest for the most lift in a service. Toners

Toners set the final shade once the hair is light enough. The Pastel Toning Lilac cools yellow out of blonde to keep it fresh, while the Toning Apricot warms things up with a soft peach note. The Lift and Blend Brown Mahogany works a little differently, blending and toning with a warm brown without a full lift, which suits lowlights and softer, deeper finishes. Match the toner to where the hair sits and where you want it to land.

How to Use BLONDME

BLONDME is made to work as a set, so the products pair up rather than stand alone. Follow the directions on each one, since mixing ratios and timing vary, but the overall service is consistent. 

  • For lightening, mix the Premium Lightener 9+ with the developer that matches the lift you want, then apply it to dry, unwashed hair, starting with a strand test. 

  • For toning, mix the toner with a 2% or 6% developer, depending on how strong you want it, apply to towel-dried hair, then rinse and follow with conditioner.

It is a professional system, and AMR sells it to salons and to the public alike. The products are straightforward once you follow the directions, but lightening and toning take some care with mixing and timing, so a strand test first and a little experience go a long way. If you are unsure, it is worth having a colourist do the lift and using the toner for upkeep at home.

A lightener can lift some existing colour, though the result depends on what is already on the hair and its condition, and it does not strip artificial colour the way a remover does. Over a previous colour, it is worth a strand test first, and a colourist if you are not sure how the hair will react.

Brass creeps back as the tone fades, so a cool toner like the Pastel Toning Lilac refreshes yellow out when it starts to show. A violet or blue-based toning wash at home between services helps hold it too. How often depends on the hair, but topping up the tone is easier than letting the brass build and correcting it later.
